Russian Game Developers Conference (KRI in Russian) was held over March 21-22, 2003, and was organized by DEV.DTF.RU - Russia's leading game developing web site. For the first time in Russian history, KRI 2003 gathered professionals from all fields of gaming industry and offered unique opportunity to discuss various topics and exchange experience. KRI 2003 was attended by over 40 Russia-based and foreign companies that specialize in gaming software development and publishing, while total number of attendees was, according to different estimations, between 1000 and 1500 people.

  
  

KRI 2003 comprised over 90 conference sessions that covered various topics from programming and gaming management to marketing and gaming software sales. The public was attracted by spectacular presentations held by Intel, ATI, NVIDIA, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Criterion Software and Codemasters. Stars of Russian game development also amassed huge crowds that were eager to listen to and to see Sergey Orlovsky (Nival Interactive), Yuri Miroshnikov (1C), Andrey Kouzmine (K-D LAB) and Dmitry Arhipov (Akella).

  
  

Project fair was definitely a must see thing at KRI 2003. Specially constructed pavilion gathered enthused independent teams that demonstrated their dream games to publishing bigwigs. Many projects, although lacking of publisher and stable financing, were highest quality products that could easily contend with recently published and successful games out there at the market. Independent games exhibited at KRI 2003 have shown that the level of Russian developer's professionalism grew significantly of late.

  

KRI 2003 definitely was a major event for Russian gaming industry. It helped many participants to establish new business contacts, and the number of participants and attendees lets us say with confidence - it was a major success. Results of KRI 2003 and positive feedback that it received from press and participants presuppose that in year 2004, this conference will be larger and better. KRI 2004 is estimated to accommodate over 100 Russian and foreign companies, while the number of attendees will at minimum hit 1500 men.
